मेघालय के ताशखाई इलाके में स्थित एक कोयला खदान में बड़ा धमाका हुआ है। इस हादसे में कम से कम 16 मजदूरों की मौत हो गई वहीं एक घायल बताया जा रहा है। हादसे के बाद स्थानीय प्रशासन और पुलिस ने राहत बचाव कार्य शुरू कर दिया है।

आशंका जताई जा रही है कि मृतकों में शामिल सभी मजदूर असम के रहने वाले थे, हालांकि प्रशासन की ओर से अभी आधिकारिक पुष्टि की प्रक्रिया जारी है। हादसे की सूचना मिलते ही मेघालय की पुलिस और बचाव दल मौके पर पहुंच गए और राहत व बचाव कार्य शुरू कर दिया है। खदान के अंदर फंसे अन्य मजदूरों की तलाश के लिए सघन सर्च ऑपरेशन चलाया जा रहा है।
